POTTY TRAINING

Dog having a potty accident indoors, illustrating common potty training issues and house training ch

I’m Tired of Cleaning Up Accidents Every Day

Potty training can leave you feeling frustrated, exhausted, and really irritated with your dog.

Your dog may:
• potty inside right after going outside
• have accidents in kennels or overnight
• suddenly regress after doing well
• mark inside the house
• get distracted outside and never go potty

A Note From Jodi Understanding the Root Cause of Potty Training Issues

Hi Fellow Dog Lover,

Potty training issues can happen when a puppy or dog has not fully learned where and when to eliminate, becomes too distracted or worried outside, has too much freedom before they are ready, or lacks a consistent routine and close supervision.

Age, previous living conditions, changes in schedule, and difficulty holding their bladder or bowels may also contribute.

Accidents are not usually disobedience.

My name is Jodi Little and I am a professional dog trainer and creator of The CALM DOG Connection Training Method and Online Course.

I'm so glad you found your way to my website.  I'm here to help you and your best friend.

A sudden change in a previously house-trained dog can also have a physical cause and should be discussed with a veterinarian.

Potty training problems can become really discouraging.

You may be constantly cleaning up accidents, watching your dog every second, or wondering why nothing seems to work.

Maybe your dog does great for a few days…

then suddenly has accidents again.

Maybe they get distracted outside and forget to potty.

Maybe they potty in the kennel, overnight, or right after coming back inside.

And after a while, it can start feeling exhausting trying to constantly prevent the next accident.

I really understand how frustrating that can feel.  I have rehabilitated hundreds of rescue dogs in my personal home and most of them were not potty trained when they arrived.

Does your dog have you trained that the only time they will go potty outside is if you take them for a walk?

Do you stand outside with them the whole time saying "go potty"

With potty training many dogs are overstimulated, distracted, anxious, under-structured,  under-supervised, or simply have never fully learned how to calmly slow down and focus outside.

Everything becomes more interesting than actually going potty:
• smells
• sounds
• movement
• excitement
• people
• dogs
• stress
• distractions

And  many owners accidentally rush potty breaks instead of slowing them  down.

Many owners give them too much freedom before the dog goes  potty.   We let them come back in the house without fully evacuating.

Potty training is also heavily connected to:
• structure
• routines
• supervision
• decompression
• kennel habits
• adrenaline levels
• timing
• consistency
• calm leadership

That is why inside The CALM DOG Connection Online Course, I teach you how to:
• create proper potty routines
• use structure and supervision correctly
• lower overstimulation
• create calmer potty breaks
• build kennel and Place of Safety habits
• recognize stress and distraction levels
• stop rehearsing accident patterns
• help your dog mentally settle
• create more consistency throughout the day

I  have worked with many rescue dogs, puppies, and client dogs struggling  with potty training, kennel accidents, overstimulation, anxiety, and  dogs that simply could not settle enough to stay consistent.

And I want you to know—

this really can get better with The CALM DOG Connection.

There is also something very important that I want you to please understand.

Your dog cannot train itself.  They need you to teach them potty habits and be consistent.

Please pause and really think about that for a moment.

Your dog cannot decide to have more

calm

confidence

structure

consistency

or emotional safety.

Your dog cannot make any changes without your guidance.

When I look at a struggling dog, I do not see a dog that is trying to be difficult.

I see a dog doing the best they can with the leadership they have been given.

It would be like expecting a child to raise themselves.

They simply can't.

That is why I never train the dog.

I train the human.

My motto is:

Training Humans to Speak Dog.

If your dog is struggling with this behavior, they are not GIVING you a hard time.

They are HAVING a hard time.

And they are waiting for someone to show them the way.

Your dog needs you to help them.

And I'll be here to help you.

Families feeling overwhelmed

Because the more people who understand dogs—

the more dogs can stay in their FurEver Homes.

The CALM DOG Connection is not traditional dog training.

This is not about commands, correction, or forcing obedience.

It's about connecting with your dog, NOT correcting your dog.

It is about helping your dog feel safe so calm behavior can happen naturally.

It's about building trust and becoming the calm, confident leader your dog needs.

This is about bonding with your dog through eye contact, calm energy, body language, positive rewards, trust, structure, and leadership.

In your real life.

In your daily routine.

In the small moments that happen every day.

Not at a training facility once a week.

Not only during a scheduled lesson.

The CALM DOG Connection happens:

In your home.

On your walks.

At your doorways.

During potty breaks.

While greeting people.

And while exploring the world together.

The CALM DOG Connection is not about taking time out of your day.

It is about changing the way you interact with your dog throughout the day—

how you guide them

how you create calm

how you respond to their stress

how you build trust

how you help them feel safe

Calm is not something we practice once in a while.

Calm happens all day, every day.

Because commands do not work when a dog is overwhelmed.

If your dog's nervousness or excitement is above a 5 on a scale of 1–10, they can barely hear you—much less obey you.

Most training focuses on correction and control.

But if your dog is living in stress, overstimulation, and under-fulfillment—those methods do not solve the real problem.

You are not just fixing behavior—you are changing the relationship.

I am going to teach you my full step-by-step method that I use to rehabilitate all dogs.

The FurEver Four: A simple daily routine that creates structure, safety, potty training, and calm for your dog.

The 7 Principles of Safety: Helping your dog feel safe, secure, and trust you as their leader.

The Adrenaline Scale: How to read your dog's stress threshold, and prevent behaviors before they happen.

Calm Leadership: through eye contact, safe exposure, and connection—instead of force or correction.

I never understood what my dog was going through Where do I start?

A FINAL NOTE FROM JODI

I know separation anxiety can make life feel overwhelming for both of you.

You may feel exhausted, emotionally drained, trapped inside your own home, or scared that things are getting worse instead of better.

And your dog may be living in constant stress, panic, confusion, and emotional dependence without understanding how to calm themselves when you are gone.

But I want you to know something important—

there is hope.

I have helped many rescue dogs and client dogs struggling with separation anxiety, panic behaviors, fear, overattachment, and emotional overwhelm.

And I truly believe most dogs are not trying to be difficult—

they are struggling because they do not yet feel emotionally safe.

That is why I created The CALM DOG Connection.

To help you understand what your dog is feeling, create more calm and emotional safety, and finally help both of you breathe again.

You and your dog do not have to go through this alone.
