Helping dogs feel safe, calm, and understood
so behavior can change naturally.
The CALM DOG Connection
is where all dogs begin:
All ages
All breeds
& All behaviors
Hi Fellow Dog Lover,
If you’re here, I already know one thing about you—
You love your dog.
Whether you just brought home a new dog or puppy, adopted a rescue dog, or you’re feeling overwhelmed by behaviors that seem to be getting worse… you are here because you want to help them.
Maybe you’re searching for a dog trainer because you are exhausted, frustrated, or scared you’re running out of options with your dog.
Or maybe you’re excited and simply want to start your new dog or puppy off right.
I created this course because I love dogs deeply—
especially the ones people call “too much.”
The scared ones, the overexcited ones, the reactive ones.
The ones sitting in shelters that people keep walking past because they feel too difficult, too wild, too nervous, or too broken.
I help the dogs that are the hardest to get adopted and that people want to surrender—
That is why I named my business FurEver Home Dog Training—my mission has always been helping dogs stay in their FurEver Homes.
None of these dogs are bad dogs. And your dog is not a bad or broken dog.
They are dogs that do not feel safe, may have fears or anxieties, do not know how to regulate themselves, and have never been shown calm leadership.
Behavior is usually not the real problem—
behavior is actually just the symptom.
Why does The CALM DOG Connection work for all dogs?
Because what I've learned working with thousands of dogs and their owners is that most unwanted behaviors come from the same two root causes:
1. IMPROPER STIMULATION:
Too much improper emotional and physical stimulation, chaos, pressure, adrenaline, and environmental stress
2. UNDER FULFILLMENT:
Not enough mental stimulation and outlets for natural instincts like sniffing, chewing, decompression, rest, structure and calm leadership.
For years, I worked with one dog and one owner at a time—and I loved that work.
But once I became more involved in rescue, I realized something much bigger—
There were thousands of dogs who needed help staying in homes, getting adopted, and avoiding surrender.
I saw so many dogs that needed help, and I knew exactly how to help them…
but I could not do it all by myself.
That was heartbreaking seeing them get surrendered for behaviors that could have been prevented or reversed.
After years of trying to help as many dogs as I could one at a time, I realized the best way to help more dogs was to teach the people who love them how to do what I do.
That is why I created The CALM DOG Connection—
The CALM DOG Connection is the method I developed while working with dogs and owners and rehabilitating hundreds of rescue dogs in my home.
I want to teach you to speak dog and understand them the way I do.
Thank you for being the kind of dog owner who never gives up. Together, we can make sure your dog and every dog stays in their FurEver Home.
Come with me and we'll walk through
The CALM DOG Connection together.
Jodi

You leave the house… and your dog starts to panic. Pacing, barking, destruction, accidents.
You’ve tried more exercise, more reassurance, toys… It's incredibly stressful for both of you.
Separation anxiety isn’t bad behavior — it’s a dog who feels unsafe and overwhelmed.
💛 “Please don’t leave… I don’t know how to be okay without you.”

Walks feel stressful and exhausting. Your dog pulls, lunges, and ignores you.
You’ve tried stopping, correcting, and using tools…
it is taking the joy out of walking your dog.
Leash pulling isn’t disobedience — it’s overstimulation and disconnection.
💛 “I’m not trying to pull… I just don’t know how to calm down”

Your dog won’t stop barking. inside, outside, at every sound — and neighbors are complaining.
You’ve tried correcting, ignoring, locking them inside…how much longer can you take it?
Excessive barking isn’t bad behavior — it’s frustration, stress, or unmet needs.
💛 “I don’t know what else to do, I'm trying to tell you that I need something…

Your dog barks, lunges, or snaps at people or dogs. Walks feel unpredictable, and on edge.
You’ve tried correcting, avoiding triggers, or pulling them away… but you're getting scared for the future.
Reactivity and aggression aren’t bad behavior — they’re fear, stress, and overwhelm.
💛 “I don’t feel safe… I need space.”

Your dog is chewing everything — furniture, shoes, doors — and you come home wondering what’s been destroyed this time.
You’ve tried more toys, more exercise, and correcting… it's expensive and you're upset.
Destructive chewing isn’t bad behavior — it’s stress, boredom, or unmet needs.
💛 “I'm bored & restless… I need fulfillment.”

Accidents keep happening in the house. You’re cleaning up constantly and wondering why your dog still isn’t getting it.
You’ve tried schedules, taking them out more, and correcting… you're at your wits end.
Potty training issues aren’t bad behavior — they’re confusion, stress, or lack of clarity.
💛 “I’m confused… I don’t know the right place yet.”

Your dog jumps on guests, strangers, kids — leaving you embarrassed and worried they might hurt someone.
You’ve tried telling them “off,” holding them back, or correcting…it feels overwhelming.
Jumping isn’t bad behavior — it’s excitement, lack of control, and overwhelm.
💛 “I just want attention… I don’t know a calmer way.”

You call your dog, give commands, and feel completely ignored. It’s frustrating and irritating.
You’ve tried repeating yourself, using treats, or correcting… It is time-consuming and affects your daily life.
Not listening isn’t disobedience — it’s lack of connection.
💛 “I can't even hear you… I'm too excited."

Your dog hides, shuts down, or seems scared of people, sounds, or new environments.
You’ve tried comforting, encouraging, or slowly exposing them… It’s heartbreaking to watch them struggle.
Fearful behavior isn’t bad behavior — it’s insecurity, stress, and lack of safety.
💛 “I’m scared… I don’t feel safe yet.”

Your dog growls, stiffens, or snaps when someone gets near their food, toys, or even you.
You’ve tried taking things away, correcting, or avoiding the situation… It’s stressful and feels scary.
Resource guarding isn’t bad behavior — it’s fear, insecurity, and lack of trust.
💛 “I’m afraid this will be taken… I need to protect it.”

Your dog has a past you may never fully know. Fear, shutdown, or maybe hyper behaviors.
You’ve tried love, patience, and giving them time… but they don't seem to be getting any better.
Rescue dogs carry stress, confusion, and past traumas from being in survival mode.
💛 “I’ve been through a lot and I don’t feel safe yet.”

Your dog gets overly excited, can’t settle, and goes from calm to chaos quickly.
Prey drive, nipping, biting, mouthing, etc.
You’ve tried more exercise, more stimulation, or correcting…
Overexcitement isn’t bad behavior — it’s a dysregulated, overwhelmed pattern.
💛 “I can’t settle… my body won’t slow down.”

Whether your dog is new… or you’ve been struggling for a while…
they’re not trying to be difficult — they’re trying to tell you what they need and behavior is how they ask for help.

Most families start here.
I’m a dog trainer—
but believe it or not,
I don't train your dog.
(Your dog already knows how to be a dog)
I am here to train you.
That is why my motto is
Training Humans to Speak Dog
I can teach you step by step how I rehabilitate some of the most difficult dogs either through one-on-one private lessons…or I can teach you through the course I created called The CALM DOG Connection
Inside the online course you'll get the full 20 lessons for all dogs, all puppies, and all behaviors— for less than the cost of one private lesson.
Your whole family can participate in learning at your own pace, in your own home, and come back to the lessons anytime you need.
And if you ever need extra support,
I’m still here for private help.
Unless your situation feels
urgent or dangerous, this is where I recommend starting.

Sometimes you just need someone to walk through it with you—and I’m here to help.
Private lessons are best when things feel urgent, overwhelming, unsafe, or too big to figure out alone.
Aggression, severe separation anxiety, major reactivity, rescue transitions, dog fights, biting, kids and dogs safety, or behaviors that feel scary and stressful at home.
The CALM DOG Connection online course will cover most of what families need—
but sometimes one or two private lessons can help you move forward faster and with more confidence.
We work together one-on-one so I can help with your specific dog, your home, your routines, and the real-life situations happening every day.
Both local and virtual
private lessons are available.
Local training is available in the Fort Collins, CO area, in your home or at FurEver Home Dog Training Ranch.
Virtual training is available anywhere through Facetime or Zoom.

Because the more people who understand dogs—
the more dogs will get to stay in their FurEver Homes.
The CALM DOG Connection is not traditional dog training.
This is not about commands, correction, or forcing obedience.
It's about connecting with your dog, NOT correcting your dog.
It is about helping your dog feel safe so calm behavior can happen naturally.
It's about building trust and becoming the calm, confident leader your dog needs.
It is about understanding behavior instead of just trying to stop it.
This is about bonding with your dog through eye contact, calm energy, subtle words, body language, positive rewards, trust, structure, and leadership.
In your real life.
In your daily routine.
In the small moments.
Not at a facility.
Not during one lesson per week.
This happens:
in your house
on your walks
at your doorways
during potty breaks
while greeting people
and while exploring the world.
The CALM DOG Connection helps you bond and create calm where it matters most
— inside your routines, and your relationship with your dog.
The CALM DOG Connection is not about taking time out of your day.
It is about changing the way you interact with your dog throughout the day—
how you guide them
how you create calm
how you respond to their stress
how you build trust
how you help them feel safe
Real transformation does not happen in a 30-minute training session.
It happens all day, every day.
Most people try more exercise, more treats, more commands, more correction, and more stimulation— and it still is not working.
Why?
Because commands do not work when a dog is overwhelmed.
If your dog’s nervousness or excitement is above a 5 on a scale of 1–10, they can barely hear you—much less obey you.
Most training focuses on obedience, correction, and control.
But if your dog is living in stress, overstimulation, and under-fulfillment—
those methods do not solve the real problem.
You are not just fixing behavior—
you are changing the relationship.
I am going to teach you my full step-by-step method that I use to rehabilitate all dogs.
The FurEver Four:
A simple daily routine that creates structure, safety, potty training, and calm for your dog.
The 7 Principles of Safety: The foundation that helps your dog feel safe, secure, and trust you as their leader.

Calm Leadership:

Not just a better-behaved dog—
