Out of control behaviors can make everyday life feel chaotic, exhausting, stressful, and emotionally overwhelming.
Your dog may:
• seem hyper all day long
• pace, nip, bug you
• have high prey drive
• have short attention span
• struggle to settle or relax
• react to every sound or movement
• chase animals, bikes, cars
Hi Fellow Dog Lover,
Dogs may seem out of control when excitement, frustration, stress, limited rest, unmet needs, learned habits, or constant stimulation make it difficult for them to settle and regulate their behavior.
Some dogs may also struggle because their daily routines provide plenty of physical activity but not enough calm structure, decompression, sleep, sniffing, chewing, or meaningful mental fulfillment.
This behavior does not necessarily mean your dog is bad, stubborn, or impossible to live with.
They may be spending so much time in an elevated state that calm no longer comes easily.
My name is Jodi Little and I am a professional dog trainer and creator of The CALM DOG Connection Training Method and Online Course.
I'm so glad you found your way to my website. I'm here to help you and your best friend.
Ugh… living with a dog that feels constantly hyper, unruly, overstimulated, or completely out of control can be exhausting.
You may feel like your dog never fully settles.
Gets bored easy.
Always moving.
Always reacting.
Always pacing.
Always looking for the next thing.
Maybe they:
• bounce off the walls
• become wild during play
• constantly demand attention
• struggle to relax in the house
• seem unable to turn their brain off
And after a while you may start feeling overwhelmed because no matter how much exercise, stimulation, play, daycare, fetch, or activity you try—
your dog still feels chaotic.
One of the biggest things I want you to understand is this:
Trying to physically tire a dog out can actually make the behavior worse long term.
A tired dog is not always a calm dog.
Some dogs are physically exhausted while their brain is still completely overloaded.
In fact, many dogs become addicted to adrenaline, stimulation, excitement, movement, and constant activity.
That elevated state starts becoming normal to their nervous system.
And eventually many dogs stop knowing how to emotionally settle at all.
This is why more exercise alone often does not solve the real problem.
Sometimes it actually creates:
• more adrenaline
• more intensity
• more reactivity
• more hyper behavior
• more frustration
• more inability to relax
Dogs are not bad—
they are overstimulated, under-fulfilled, disconnected, lacking structure, mentally overloaded, or living too high on what I call the Adrenaline Scale most of the day.
That is why inside The CALM DOG Connection Online Course, I teach you how to:
• lower overstimulation
• understand trigger stacking
• recognize adrenaline levels
• fulfill natural instincts properly
• create structure and routines
• build engagement and eye contact
• create calmer routines inside the home
• stop rehearsing chaotic behaviors
• help your dog mentally settle
• create real calm instead of constant exhaustion
I have worked with many dogs struggling with prey drive, hyperactivity, inability to settle, overstimulation, constant pacing, nonstop energy, and the dog's owners believed they would never calm down.
I want you to know—
this really can get better with The CALM DOG Connection.
There is also something very important that I want you to please understand.
Your dog cannot train itself. Their success depends on you showing them the way.
Please pause and really think about that for a moment.
Your dog cannot decide to have more
calm
confidence
structure
consistency
or emotional safety.
Your dog cannot make any changes without your guidance.
When I look at a struggling dog, I do not see a dog that is trying to be difficult.
I see a dog doing the best they can with the leadership they have been given.
It would be like expecting a child to raise themselves.
They simply can't.
That is why I never train the dog.
I train the human.
My motto is:
Training Humans to Speak Dog.
If your dog is struggling with this behavior, they are not GIVING you a hard time.
They are HAVING a hard time.
And they are waiting for someone to show them the way.
Your dog needs you to help them.
And I'll be here to help you.

Because the more people who understand dogs—
the more dogs can stay in their FurEver Homes.
The CALM DOG Connection is not traditional dog training.
This is not about commands, correction, or forcing obedience.
It's about connecting with your dog, NOT correcting your dog.
It is about helping your dog feel safe so calm behavior can happen naturally.
It's about building trust and becoming the calm, confident leader your dog needs.
This is about bonding with your dog through eye contact, calm energy, body language, positive rewards, trust, structure, and leadership.
In your real life.
In your daily routine.
In the small moments that happen every day.
Not at a training facility once a week.
Not only during a scheduled lesson.
The CALM DOG Connection happens:
In your home.
On your walks.
At your doorways.
During potty breaks.
While greeting people.
And while exploring the world together.
The CALM DOG Connection is not about taking time out of your day.
It is about changing the way you interact with your dog throughout the day—
how you guide them
how you create calm
how you respond to their stress
how you build trust
how you help them feel safe
Calm is not something we practice once in a while.
Calm happens all day, every day.
Because commands do not work when a dog is overwhelmed.
If your dog's nervousness or excitement is above a 5 on a scale of 1–10, they can barely hear you—much less obey you.
Most training focuses on correction and control.
But if your dog is living in stress, overstimulation, and under-fulfillment—those methods do not solve the real problem.
You are not just fixing behavior—you are changing the relationship.
I am going to teach you my full step-by-step method that I use to rehabilitate all dogs.
The FurEver Four: A simple daily routine that creates structure, safety, potty training, and calm for your dog.
The 7 Principles of Safety: Helping your dog feel safe, secure, and trust you as their leader.
The Adrenaline Scale: How to read your dog's stress threshold, and prevent behaviors before they happen.
Calm Leadership: through eye contact, safe exposure, and connection—instead of force or correction.

Most families start here.
I’m a dog trainer—
but believe it or not,
I don't train your dog.

Sometimes you just need someone to walk through it with you—and I’m here to help.
Private lessons are best when things feel urgent, overwhelming, unsafe, or too big to figure out alone.
Aggression, severe separation anxiety, major reactivity, rescue transitions, dog fights, biting, kids and dogs safety, or behaviors that feel scary and stressful at home.
The CALM DOG Connection online course will cover most of what families need—
but sometimes one or two private lessons can help you move forward faster and with more confidence.
We work together one-on-one so I can help with your specific dog, your home, your routines, and the real-life situations happening every day.
Both local and virtual
private lessons are available.
Local training is available in the Fort Collins, CO area, in your home or at FurEver Home Dog Training Ranch.
Virtual training is available anywhere through Facetime or Zoom.

The CALM CRATE Connection is the
missing piece behind most behaviors.
This bonus shows you how to create true calm, confidence, and emotional safety through proper crate training, structure, and Place of Safety foundations—so calm can happen faster and your dog can finally relax.
I know separation anxiety can make life feel overwhelming for both of you.
You may feel exhausted, emotionally drained, trapped inside your own home, or scared that things are getting worse instead of better.
And your dog may be living in constant stress, panic, confusion, and emotional dependence without understanding how to calm themselves when you are gone.
But I want you to know something important—
there is hope.
I have helped many rescue dogs and client dogs struggling with separation anxiety, panic behaviors, fear, overattachment, and emotional overwhelm.
And I truly believe most dogs are not trying to be difficult—
they are struggling because they do not yet feel emotionally safe.
That is why I created The CALM DOG Connection.
To help you understand what your dog is feeling, create more calm and emotional safety, and finally help both of you breathe again.
You and your dog do not have to go through this alone.
