Helping dogs feel safe, calm, and understood
so behavior can change naturally.
The CALM DOG Connection is for:
All Dogs & Puppies
All ages
All breeds
& All behaviors

Whether your dog is new… or you’ve been struggling for a while…
they’re not trying to be difficult — they’re trying to tell you what they need and behavior is how they ask for help.
Hi Fellow Dog Lover,
If you're here, I already know one thing about you—
You love your dog.
My name is Jodi Little, owner of FurEver Home Dog Training and creator of The CALM DOG Connection.
Whether you have a new puppy, adopted a rescue dog, or are struggling with behaviors that seem to be getting worse, you're here because you want to help them.
Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed.
Or maybe you're simply trying to start your dog off right.
The truth is, dogs are not "bad or broken" if they are struggling with behaviors.
The behavior itself is not the real problem.
Behavior is just the symptom.
I want to show you how to get to the root of the problem and create the calm, safe conditions that allow your dog's behavior to change naturally.
Throughout this page, I'm going to introduce you to some amazing dogs who came into my home with significant behavioral issues and they have all helped shape my CALM DOG Connection training method.
You'll meet rescue dogs, puppies, and a few very special dogs that taught me some of the most important lessons I've ever learned.
You'll also get to see a fun behind-the-scenes video peek into my everyday life working with 15-20 dogs at a time using The CALM DOG Connection.
While behaviors may look very different on the surface, they share the same root causes.
Overstimulation.
Under-fulfillment.
Stress.
Disconnection.
And a lack of safety.
That is why The CALM DOG Connection is not focused on chasing individual behaviors.
It is focused on helping dogs feel safe, calm, connected, fulfilled, and understood, which allows all behaviors to improve naturally.
Now let's take a look at what your dog may be trying to tell you.
You leave the house… and your dog starts to panic. Pacing, barking, destruction, accidents.
You’ve tried more exercise, more reassurance, toys… It's incredibly stressful for both of you.
💛 Separation Anxiety means your dog doesn't feel safe and is overwhelmed.
Walks feel stressful and exhausting. Your dog pulls, lunges, and ignores you.
You’ve tried stopping, correcting, and using tools… it is taking the joy out of walking your dog.
💛 Leash Pulling happens when your dog is overstimulated and disconnected from you.
Your dog won’t stop barking. inside, outside, at every sound — and neighbors are complaining.
You’ve tried correcting, ignoring, locking them inside…how much longer can you take it?
💛 Excessive Barking happens when your dog is under-fulfilled and overstimulated.
Your dog barks, lunges, or snaps at people or dogs. Walks feel unpredictable, and on edge.
You’ve tried correcting, avoiding triggers, or pulling them away… but you're getting scared for the future.
💛 Reactivity and Aggression happen when your dog doesn't feel safe, is overwhelmed and needs more space.
Your dog is chewing everything — furniture, shoes, doors — and you come home wondering what’s been destroyed this time.
You’ve tried more toys, more exercise, and correcting… it's expensive and you're upset.
💛 Destructive behaviors happen when your dog is bored and has unmet needs.
Accidents keep happening in the house. You’re cleaning up constantly and wondering why your dog still isn’t getting it.
You’ve tried schedules, taking them out more, and correcting… you're at your wits end.
💛 Potty training accidents happen when your dog lacks routine, guidance and consistency.
Your dog jumps on guests, strangers, kids — leaving you embarrassed and worried they might hurt someone.
You’ve tried telling them “off,” holding them back, or correcting…it feels overwhelming.
💛 Jumping, Biting and Nipping happen when your dog is overexcited and living in a state of overstimulation instead of calm.
You call your dog, give commands, and feel completely ignored. It’s frustrating and irritating.
You’ve tried repeating yourself, using treats, or correcting… It is time-consuming and affects your daily life.
💛 Ignoring Commands happen when your dog is overexcited and disconnected from you
Your dog hides, shuts down, or seems scared of people, sounds, or new environments.
You’ve tried comforting, encouraging, or slowly exposing them… It’s heartbreaking to watch them struggle.
💛 Fearful, Timid, or Nervous behaviors happen when there is too much of the wrong stimulus and your dog doesn't feel safe.
Your dog growls, stiffens, or snaps when someone gets near their food, toys, or even you.
You’ve tried taking things away, correcting, or avoiding the situation… It’s stressful and feels scary.
💛 Resource Guarding happens when your dog doesn't feel safe and fears losing something important.
Your dog has a past you may never fully know. Fear, shutdown, or maybe hyper behaviors.
You’ve tried love, patience, and giving them time… but they don't seem to be getting any better.
Many are still carrying stress, confusion, and past trauma from living in survival mode.
💛 Rescue and Puppy Mill dogs carry anxiety and trauma and need to feel safe, calm and confident.
Your dog gets overly excited, can’t settle, and goes from calm to chaos quickly.
You’ve tried more exercise, more stimulation, or correcting…
overexcitement isn't bad behavior — it's a dysregulated, overwhelmed pattern.
💛 Out of Control behaviors happen when your dog is overstimulated and has never been taught how to settle.
Over the years, I've worked with thousands of dogs and owners and rehabilitated hundreds of rescue dogs in my own home.
And if there's one thing I've learned, it's this:
Dogs are not giving us a hard time -
they are having a hard time.
They are often overstimulated, under-fulfilled, stressed, confused, or simply don't feel safe.
Most owners try more exercise, more treats, more commands, more correction, and more stimulation.
But what if we stopped focusing on the behavior and started focusing on why it was happening in the first place?
That is the foundation for The CALM DOG Connection.
Instead of correcting our dog's behaviors, we focus on helping them feel safe, calm, connected, fulfilled, and understood.
When we change why behavior is happening, we can stop fighting the symptom and start truly helping them.
My goal is to help you understand your dog the way I do.
I'm glad you found your way here, and I look forward to helping you and your best friend on this journey together.

FurEver Home Dog Training

Most families start here.
I’m a dog trainer—
but believe it or not,
I don't train your dog.
(Your dog already knows how to be a dog)
I am here to train you.
That is why my motto is
Training Humans to Speak Dog
I can teach you step by step how I rehabilitate some of the most difficult
dogs either through private lessons or The CALM DOG Connection online course.
Inside the online course you'll get the full 20 lessons for all dogs, all puppies, and all behaviors— for less than the cost of one private lesson.
Your whole family can participate in learning in your home, at your own pace, and come back to the lessons anytime.
And if you ever need extra support,
I’m still here for private help.
Unless your situation feels
urgent or dangerous, this is where I recommend starting.

Sometimes you just need someone to walk through it with you—and I’m here to help.
Private lessons are best when things feel urgent, overwhelming, unsafe, or too big to figure out alone.
Aggression, severe separation anxiety, major reactivity, rescue transitions, dog fights, biting, kids and dogs safety, or behaviors that feel scary and stressful at home.
The CALM DOG Connection online course will cover most of what families need—
but sometimes one or two private lessons can help you move forward faster and with more confidence.
We work together one-on-one so I can help with your specific dog, your home, your routines, and the real-life situations happening every day.
Both local and virtual
private lessons are available.
Local training is available in the Fort Collins, CO area, in your home
Virtual training is available anywhere through Facetime or Zoom.

Families feeling overwhelmed
Because the more people who understand dogs—
the more dogs can stay in their FurEver Homes.
The CALM DOG Connection is not traditional dog training.
This is not about commands, correction, or forcing obedience.
It's about connecting with your dog, NOT correcting your dog.
It is about helping your dog feel safe so calm behavior can happen naturally.
It's about building trust and becoming the calm, confident leader your dog needs.
This is about bonding with your dog through eye contact, calm energy, body language, positive rewards, trust, structure, and leadership.
In your real life.
In your daily routine.
In the small moments that happen every day.
Not at a training facility once a week.
Not only during a scheduled lesson.
The CALM DOG Connection happens:
In your home.
On your walks.
At your doorways.
During potty breaks.
While greeting people.
And while exploring the
world together.
The CALM DOG Connection is not about taking time out of your day.
It is about changing the way you interact with your dog throughout the day—
how you guide them
how you create calm
how you respond to their stress
how you build trust
how you help them feel safe
Calm is not something we practice once in a while.
Calm happens all day, every day.
Because commands do not work when a dog is overwhelmed.
If your dog’s nervousness or excitement is above a 5 on a scale of 1–10, they can barely hear you—much less obey you.
Most training focuses on correction and control.
But if your dog is living in stress, overstimulation, and under-fulfillment—
those methods do not solve the real problem.
You are not just fixing behavior—
you are changing the relationship.
I am going to teach you my full step-by-step method that I use to rehabilitate all dogs.
The FurEver Four:
A simple daily routine that creates structure, safety, potty training, and calm for your dog.
The 7 Principles of Safety: Helping your dog feel safe, secure, and trust you as their leader.
